Quick & Simple Instant Pot Chicken Dog Food
This is a straightforward, no-fuss homemade dog food recipe using chicken, carrots, and peas. Itβs designed for busy days when you still want to feed real food β one pot, minimal prep, easy cleanup.
Ingredients (β6 lb batch)
- Protein:
- 3 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
- Vegetables:
- 1.5 lbs carrots, chopped
- 1.5 lbs green peas (fresh or frozen)
- Fats (optional):
- 1β2 tbsp olive oil or coconut oil
- Liquid:
- 1.5 cups water or unsalted chicken broth
Cooking Instructions β Instant Pot (β30 min total)
- Prep ingredients. Rough-chop carrots. No need for precision β theyβll soften completely.
- Load the pot. Add chicken first, then carrots and peas. Pour in water or broth.
- Pressure cook. High Pressure 15 minutes. 5-minute natural release, then vent.
- Shred and mix. Shred chicken with a spoon and stir. Add olive oil or coconut oil if using.
- Cool completely. Let cool before portioning or serving.
Daily Feeding Guidelines
- Small dogs: Β½βΒΎ lb per day
- Medium dogs: 1β1.5 lbs per day
- Large dogs: 2β3 lbs per day
Adjust based on age, activity level, and overall body condition.
Storage

- Freeze portions for up to 3 months
